"I moved to Snowmass Village in 2018 after spending my entire life beachside in Georgia. I had never lived in the mountains before and thought what better place to try it out than the Colorado Rockies. I love being able to get out on the mountain and snowboard everyday, and I especially love the summer golfing season. I've worked in the restaurant industry for many years now and can truly say that this industry is my passion. With any restaurant, challenges arise everyday (especially during a global pandemic, go figure), but "the guys" are the best ownership in the valley to work for. We are more of a family than I anticipated where we work hard, play hard.
Executive Chef - Lauro Gonzalez
Home Town: Guanajuato, Mexico
I grew up and did most of my studies in Mexico before arrive in the U.S. 24 years ago and became a citizen. I met a really wonderful person, Louis Lambert, who taught mee to work in a kitchen and encouraged me to learn new skills. Thanks to him I was able to go to the Culinary Institue of America in New York. After graduation everything started to fall into place for me. I've met and worked alongsidee many amazing chefs over the years and I have kept and used the techniques I have learned from those above me. I am excited to be at Base Camp to show what I've learned and grow my skills even more.
Assistant General Manager - Jared Jager
Home Town: North Kingston, Rhode Island
After a "Big Boy Corporate Job" I moved to Snowmass Village in the spring of 2008. I wanted a different and more active lifestyle. I've worked in the Hospitality and Tourism industry since the move. I'm beyond excited to work for the management team here at Base Camp after spending the past few years at their sister restaurant, Sake. When I'm not at work you can ussually find me on the mountain or cruising through the back country. I love traveling and have been to 41 of the 50 United States. I anticipate many more days of traveling in my future.
Operations Manager - Charlie Burrows
Home Town: Charleston, South Carolina
My journey into the restaurant industry started with a six year stint with PHR after years and years of barternding. I had opened four restaurants in Virginia Beach before moving to Snowmass 16 years ago. I immediately noticed the elevated quality in life while living in the mountains. I eventually met Dave, Scott, and Ned and we opened Base Camp in 2010 and Slice of Italy in 2012. Outside of Base Camp and Slice my hobbies includee Jiu Jitsu. I currently practice with a small group of men and women, but keep an eye out for classes comnig to the Snowmass Fitness Room.
Marketing, Events, Human Resources - Maggie Kleber
Home Town: Beach Haven, NJ
I moved to Colorado to bum it on the mountain after graduating Washington & Lee University in 2016. I wasnt quite ready to get out and job search so I thought what better way can I spend a year than snowboarding all the time. I ended up staying for the summer that year as well and completely understood the local's saying "come for the winter, stay for the summer." After spending a few seasons as a server at Base Camp I was welcomed to the managment team. I still snowboard as often as I can, but my favorite activities out here are the breathtaking summer hikes.
